Colors by Llarowe - Precious Metal

Today's polish of the day (well a few days ago, I just haven't had time to post about it) is "Precious Metal" from Colors by Llarowe. It's not a new polish, in fact it's been discontinued. This is a real shame because it's a sublimely beautiful polish. A dove grey crelly with an intense copper shimmer and it's almost too gorgeous to describe. I'll just let my picture do the talking.

A Box, Indied - May 2014 - The Blooming Desert

A weeks camping trip has taken its toll on my nails so the first thing I did when I got home is treat them to a polish. They've been unpolished for a week so I treated them to a pink jelly and glitter from HARE polish an exclusive to May's A Box, Indied. The polish is called The Blooming Desert and it looks great on my lightly tanned hands.

Product Review - Revolution Glitter Base - Picture Polish

I'm off on our annual camping holiday tomorrow, which means naked nubs for a week, but I thought I'd share my thoughts on Revolution Glitter Base by Australian brand Picture Polish.

This is not a peel off base coat, my mani lasted two days, which is good for my nails (two days is as long as any polish lasts for me). In the official blurb on their website (http://picturepolish.com.au/nail-polish/revolution) it says soak for 15 minutes, I found that holding the remover soaked cotton wool ball on my nail for 5 minutes was more than enough. I just used a standard polish remover as well, Superdrug's own brand in this instance. There was none of the usual scrubbing and scraping to get rid of those pesky last bits of glitter off my nail. I've only tried this once, with Black Cat Lacquer's "Poison Ivy" and Seche Vite, but when I get back from my holiday I'll definitely be giving this another try.

A Box, Indied - May 2014 - Poison Ivy

I don't normally do green polish but I had to share this one with you. "Poison Ivy" from Black Cat Lacquer is absolutely gorgeous. A sheer grassy-green jelly base with just the right amount of glitter in green and gold; it just glows on my nails. This polish was exclusive to the May 2014 A Box, Indied from Llarowe.

A Box, Indied - May & June 2014 - Glisten & Glow

I'm in the unusual situation where my May and June "A Box, Indied" both arrived within a week of each other.  When my May box hadn't arrived three weeks after it was despatched, Llarowe sent me another one, hence the delay in me getting my hands on it. I've decided to give the Glisten & Glow products a try next, and this brand was featured in both the May and the June boxes.

I tried the "Wild Nights in Summer Heights" shea butter hand scrub first; it came in June's box. It smelt wonderful and applied really easily. The instructions said to put a "quarter sized" piece of the scrub on the back of my hand but, being British, I have no idea how big a quarter is, so I guessed. I found I needed a bit more once I'd started rubbing it in, so I'd say I used a piece about the same size as a 10p. My hands felt super smooth and soft after I used this product so I'm really pleased with it.

After using the scrub I buffed my nails and applied the Glisten & Glow product I received in the May box; Honeysuckle Cuticle Oil. My nails had just been through a harsh glitter removal so were in need of some TLC before I repaint them later. Honeysuckle is one of my favourite floral scents so I was already onto a winner there. I left the oil sitting on my nails for 20 minutes before rubbing it in. My nails were instantly hydrated and looked better. I'm off on a week long camping trip next Wednesday which will mean unpainted nails while I'm away, I'm going to treat my nails to this oil every day, it's gorgeous.

Nail Mail - 7th June 2014

My final outstanding item of nail mail arrived today - June's edition of "A Box, Indied". With offerings from Hare Polish, Different Dimension, Jindie Nails, Girly Bits and Glisten & Glow - this is yet another gorgeous looking box. I have a rather large stash of untried polishes to get through now, this makes me very happy.

A Box, Indied - May 2014 - Dead Man's Bells

Today's NotD is from May's "A Box, Indied" - CrowsToes' "Dead Man's Bells". This is a black jelly base with loads of dark pink glitter and a shot of turquoise glitter. The jelly base is a bit thin and I needed three coats to get opacity but once it's on the nail the thinness of the jelly base means the gorgeous glitters really have a chance to shine through. I know I'm going to curse this polish when it comes to removal (as I always curse glitter-heavy polishes), but it looks so fabulous on I might just forgive it!
